Binh Tan District (Ho Chi Minh City) has just introduced a scheme to improve the quality of household waste collection and transport services, arguably one of the first districts in the city to standardize informal waste collectors and directly manage the collection and spending of waste fees.
Reorganizing the collection system aims to raise efficiency and protect the urban look, not to eliminate private collectors; on the contrary, it helps existing units modernize through cooperation and investment.
Under the new scheme, from July 1 residents of Binh Tan will pay waste fees through an app to their ward.
