On the afternoon of 8 October, Ba Dinh District (Hanoi) held a plaque-affixing ceremony for the infrastructure upgrade and urban renovation of the Ngoc Khanh Lake area, marking the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2024). Once completed, the Ngoc Khanh Lake pedestrian street will be Ba Dinh District’s second and Hanoi’s seventh.
Scale of the project
- About 3.6 ha and about 1,000 m long, in Ngoc Khanh Ward.
- Total investment of nearly VND 30 billion; investor: the district construction investment project management board.
- Stone paving for the roadway, pavements and walkways; added greenery, benches, waste bins, public toilets, walkway lighting and a pedestrian-street gateway.
Cultural and historical value
The area is linked to Giang Vo Truong, where soldiers trained and military drills were held under the Ly, Tran and Le dynasties. The project keeps details that recall Giang Vo Truong as a cultural highlight connecting past and present.
