Hue Urban Environment and Public Works JSC (HEPCO) inaugurated a smart monitoring and control centre and launched a pilot of household waste collection with electric vehicles in Hue City. ICD helped build and supply several electric waste-collection models for the programme.
Rollout plan
- 2019 - 2020: 40 electric vehicles in the city centre and on sloped streets.
- Phase 2 (2020 - 2022): 60 more vehicles in the remaining areas.
Vehicle features
- Power of 1,000 - 2,000 W, design speed not exceeding 35 km/h.
- Battery runs 8 - 10 hours continuously, matching collection hours on each route.
- Headlights, turn signals, work-warning lights, a public-address speaker and a dedicated waste box.
According to HEPCO, electric vehicles reduce heavy and hazardous work for employees, raise sanitation quality and widen the collection area.
